Picked up 2 rods today at a pretty good price (150). Initially went to pick up this FF70 (B serial) and the seller also happened to have another “Fenwick steelhead rod” to show me as well. Turns out it was a Fenwick 335. I’ve seen photos online here of them being tobacco colored with gold wrappings and Mylar but this one has a unripened orange/yellowish color to them with brown metal ferrules. Thought you guys might like to take a look since I don’t see much 1st gen Fenwicks on here.

I’m excited to try shooting heads for stripers on the 335.

Both for color comparison

You got a couple good ones there.

The early, metal ferruled rods are as nice, or better, casters than the FF series. That 9fter is gonna be a tad heavy in the hand, but the stories it could tell!

The hand scribed FF70 is fantastic. Wonderful score.

Those are two beauties! You are gonna love both. FF 70's from that era are so smooth.

That FF335 reminded me that 20-40 years ago we used to use a Fenwick SH 1021 blank to make tournament casting rods here in Australia for use in the accuracy events. Used to run a 8wt double taper on it. Still got mine :)
