I just picked up this rare 6 foot Wanigas Deluxe rod that until now I've never seen before, and I've seen a lot of Wanigas rods. It's definitely an early one built up from a Narmco blank probably sometime in the fifties. First off, this is the first cap and ring over an all cork seat that I've ever seen on any Wanigas glass rod. It also has stamped Super Z truncated brass ferrules. I cast it with a 4 and a 5 weight lines, and it threw both, but I preferred it with a 4. The label on the rod tube says that it weighs 2 ounces.

Wow, nice stick! I always wonder how many nice rods you get to see on a regular basis. I suppose you have a crick in mind that would be just right for that rod. Have fun

Mark,

Great find given the rarity of these rods. Had not seen that seat before. Must be one of the lightest rods Art ever offered.

Located a Wanigas Travel rod recently, will try to post images soon.

I'll have this rod at Michi-Glass for all to see and cast. I trust that you'll have that travel rod with you Grouse.
