After writing about my 4 and 5-weights, I thought I better do a post about 6-weights.
Here it is: https://theriffle.blogspot.com/2023/02/the-sixes-2023-style.html
Hope you enjoy!
Here is a pic for attention: A lovely sunset on one of the most popular walleye, muskie, and smallmouth bass lakes in Minnesota, Mille Lacs Lake. I have never caught a single fish from this lake...

Another nice assortment of 6wts. Maybe this year is the year to get a few walleye and smallmouth out of that lake - once it unfreezes of course!

I do more warmwater than trout fishing, and somehow have fewer 6wts than you ;-) more 7wts probably though.

so why no fish from Mille Lacs ?
my problem with those big waters is the fish are usually too deep for useful fly fishing.. or too scattered and you need lots of expensive electronics to find them..

Thanks! I should have my 3-weight post ready in the next few days...

Doug- Unlike most Minnesotans, I am not a walleye fisherman, and neither was my dad, so we never vacationed on Mille Lacs growing up. Now that I have kids we have camped on Mille Lacs a couple of times, but the one time I fished in one of the bays we were on, nothing was happening. There are several other extremely popular lakes in the state I have never even seen, which boggles the minds of the walleye fishermen I know. I would much rather head south to the Driftless region of the state and fish for trout.
