Anyone know anything about this rod.I can only find the 8' version any where I have looked. It has hard blue grip and black reel seat.It says 6' 244cm which is 8 feet.but this rod is 6 for sure .The search results only reference an 8 footer. What line weight would this be?All my 6 foot glass rods are 5\6.Thanks to any replies.

My 2454 is a 8' dry fly action with a cork handle---and a deep dark burgundy reel seat. The lettering and decal chip off very easily--I would say that originally the 6 you see started out as an 8 and some it chipped off---on mine the 244 cm reads 24 cm and the word action says "actiow"---this is a nice 6 wt. Since the handle is not cork and the reel seat black, is there a chance the the rod was broken and shortened to 6'?
Anyway, I hope the rod works for you

Look the rod over carefully. Nevermind what the label says. Measure each section. You will be able to observe where and how it has been shortened or a section from another rod substituted, or some combination of these.

Both sections are equal .the ends by the ferrules are pretty much equal diameter. The tip is factory wrapped and so is the winding check.Unlless some one hacked a foot off each section at the ferrules and replaced them nearly perfectly this is a 6 foot factory rod.

Hersh, The open wraps on that rod at the guides and the ferrule look like they are factory work and tell me that it is from an early part of the glass era, but the grip and reel seat appear to be of a later generation. Whether it was originally an 8' or a 6' rod I have no credible answer. But the grip and reel seat don't seem to match the rest of the certainly vintage rest of the rod.

What line does it like? Will watch with interest.

Most of the rods I find from that era are 8' and 6, 7 wt

I have a Garcia Conolon 8&1/2' 2537T 2 piecer with the tip section considerably longer than the butt section.

Fished it for bass once or twice, quite a bit of power in the butt for a rod of that vintage

There are several examples of this rod in 8feet either same foam and reel seat label etc. This rod appears to be spliced as in a foot hacked off the top of the butt and bottom of the tip?.Nothing else makes sense.I will clean it up and try a 6wt on it.I have a couple other oddball rods .That are not in the catalogs etc but are factory made.
