Every so often my two buddies Peter and Greg (Driftless here on the Board) come over to cast some of our glass rods in the yard next to my office. Today was our first chance this summer, and we had a fun time trying out our new finds.

The rods we brought (if I can remember them all...):

Scott F703/3
Scott F803/3
Scott F794/4
Kenney 835
Orvis Superfine Glass 7'6 4wt
Barclay 7'8" 4wt
Barclay 7'10" 5wt
McFarland Dirty Martini 7'9" 4wt
Bozeman 8'6" 5wt
Paddock 8' 5wt
Montgomery Ward Tonkin 7' 4wt bamboo
7' 4/5wt bamboo finished out by Greg (forgot the builder...)

It was a great time casting some sweet rods!

Looks like fun, but I gotta say I kinda cringed at all those rods on the ground.

Nice variety of rods. Agree with MrJesse, what was the final conclusion. Which ones were your favorite and least favorite?

That's a heck of a line up. Sounds fun.

Looks like fun. How does the Kenney 835 compare to the Paddock 8' 5 weight. Any noticeable differences?

That was a great time, thanks again Scott!

It was very windy and I was very impressed how the little Scott 703-3 cut through the wind. The Paddock 8' 5wt also handled the wind well. d

The Kenney is a bit slower than the Paddock, with a bit more swing weight, probably due the extra 3". Both very nice.

I like 4wts and Peter's Barclay is always so sweet. That Dirty Martini is right there though.

The bamboo blank I built on was from Bob Hosack.

I agree with everything Greg mentioned above. The Barclays are both sweet. I love all my Scott glass, so those are favorites. I have been trying to sell the Bozeman for a while, but we tried it with a Rio Gold Elite line, and the added line weight seemed to work with it very well. I think that one is going to stay in my quiver.
The Dirty Martini (which Greg built for me) is quickly becoming one of my favorites as well. All the rods we brought are winners in their own way! :)

Love the original rootbeer colored Barclays!
Bring some vintage glass rods next time! :)
