So I had a chance to jump on this Vince Cummings river rat. Paid some cash and traded a rod too. Think I got a great bargain. Anyway, wanted to share with you all. I casted it with an airflo 5wt wf line today and it was excellent. I’ve searched the forum and read every page I could but there’s surprisingly not a ton of info online about Vince or his rod making career. Please share if you have info. Thanks!

My 7ft model casts 2-5wt beautifully and probably finest for me with a 3 or 4.

Check your search/query parameters; there's plenty here, so something in the phrasing or limits of the search is filtering the results too narrowly. "Vince Cummings" yields, if anything, more than you'd want to look through. search.php?keywords=Vince+Cummings&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search
Same for "river rat": search.php?keywords=%22river+rat%22&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

FWIW my 8’ RR designated for 7/8 was good with WF lines but became “great” with a DT6 peach line from cortland. Point being, as others will state the rods are very versatile, but I found some line pairing really made the rod come alive. Nice acquisition as they seem to be getting harder to find. I love the overall utility of the builds though I wish the cork was a little better, a small quibble really. Enjoy the new Rat!

Looks like a great score! I have heard that these Cummings’s rod have an almost magical feel when casting. Congrats on a great find. Best, Paul in OR

RR75 is a fine rod that will cast a number of lines as will the Water Witch. While both rods are made from the same blank material they are not the same taper. As shown below the RR75 is thicker at the lower end of the blank. Both fine rods.

Like the RR75 with a five weight line best, then a six weight line next best.

Likes them both. A versatile taper. Shown below in use on a river float with WF line for bass.

Suggested protective ring upgrade by Andy Manchester to add longevity to the rod.
