If only it had a box... not that it isn't utterly stellar as is - but you know what I mean - or do you ?

See - the boxes have born on dates on the bottom.

Most (not all) times dating the reel inside.

Chris is leaning 1494 - clicker.

The 1394 would be another. Just realize that no one Pflueger source is totally accurate as to production history. And from packaging, to retail delivery, to display, to storage, to consumer and on, boxes get mixed up. The box may be close, but still no cigar. Even if the original owner knows the box was from the original retail sale, it may not be the "correct" box, but probably is, or very close. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=49471&p=211932&hilit=Pflueger+1394#p211932

The 1394 is probably the simplest to use LHW with its slight biased to RHW fixed click. The spring, I believe, could be reversed on its stanchion for slight LHW bias. I sure wouldn't pay a premium for one, though, and would still prefer a 1960s or later 1494.

If the 1494 is too heavy what about a 1774? Click pawl but light. I like them on 2/4 weights

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using my 1290 7’9” with a Martin MC56. Not exactly period correct, but it does work well with the rod.

I have a 1494 that is a nice size and weight for a FY-A310 7'6" Wondered. A WF6 is on it, but will try a 1494 1/2 with a DT6 this upcoming spring. The rod is 3.6 oz on a digital scale.
