I’ve just taken receipt of another vintage glass rod. It is 8.5 ft and unbranded. The blank is brown and similar to the Fibatube blanks that I like but the ferrule is a glass over glass style. Unusually, as far as I am aware, the rod has agate lined guides on the first four rings and tip. The rod is well finished if a little understated with maroon tyings with black tips. I will post some pics in due course but wondered if this configuration of lined guides is unusual? There are 10 guides in all the others being unlined bell guides, I think.
My best guess is that the rod is one built in the 60’s / 70’s by a uk builder like Foreshaw’s of Liverpool (the reel seat is similar) with the spec being defined by the selling price and availability of components at the time. ( if this isn’t stating the obvious!)
