The color appears correct to be a Phillipson, but I'm far from expert on these Beans rods and was hoping someone say yes or no to being a Phillipson?

Don't think the bag is correct, but tube looks good.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,
Barry

Can't speak for the bag or tube, but with that "no-rock" reelseat, welted nickel-silver ferrules, and guides immediately before and after the ferrules, it can't be anything other than a pillipson trade rod!

Thank you....

Very nice casting rod. Old 6/7 weight TT will work with a little line out, but seems like an 8wt line loads it fully in close. I have a 7wt TT that I haven't spooled up yet that may be just right.

Doesn't seem like they skimped on building the rod. Has eleven guides, including the tip top, which seems like a fair amount for a 8' rod.

These 8' Phillipsons start getting a little heavy and being a three piece must add a little weight.

The rod, bag, and tube are all Phillipson. I have several aluminum tubes with that red cap and blurry ink. I have a couple of the same bag also. Interesting there is no line rating on the rod, either a line diameter or an AFTMA line weight.

Phillipson sold rods to Bean before and after the Johnson Reels ownership period. But according to Vic Johnson's book, all OEM sales were stopped while Johnson owned them. That rod could have been build either just before, or just after.

Good information. Had doubts about the bag, good to know.

I'm thinking this will make a great rod for throwing bass bugs.

Thanks Tom....

This is cool. Bean definitely worked with some good suppliers over the years…
