I thought I had something rare when I noticed I had a a 7 1/2', 4 piece Para/Metric. Was digging through the old rod tubes and found I already had one. Possibly not as rare as I thought.

Just found the one in the top of the picture. A USA made rod with a different reel seat and grip.

Both rods appear to have sections of unequal length. Were they made that way? Do they total 7'6" when assembled? What line weight are they rated and do you agree with the rating?

I've seen that grip and seat on the upper one on PC (Parametric Custom) rods, I like it better than the tapered grip on the PD (PM Deluxe)

What the letter designation on those?

Digging through rod tubes is always a joy!

There were a coupld of these at a recent auction and slight variation in length was present on those as well, Todd

Are they a little heavy? The ferrule design on the parametrics is bombproof.I have a 7wt Gowdy that i am gifting to a good friend for bass bugging. Those appear to be the same high quality.

I don't find them heavy at all. But, I like bamboo, so maybe I'm not best judge of heavy.

Put them on a postal scale.

Rod in top of photo: 3.2 ozs
Rod in bottom of photo: 3.3 ozs

Tip top-The extra length on the sections is just the male spigots.Put the rod together and the sections will be the same length.

Stonely, I wondered the same thing but couldn't tell from the angle/perspective of the photographs. The actual sections of the blank are, essentially, the same length, is that what you are observing or know from handling one of these? This seems most apparent in the tip section, which lacks the extra length of a spigot so appears "shorter" relative to the others. Similarly, the butt section appears as if it might be slightly "longer" but only because of the length of its spigot and/or because the reel seat may be installed so as to extend beyond the end of the underlying blank. Bottom line, a blank cut into four equal length sections? Laying them out parallel with the blank sections aligned where the spigot protrudes would show this, or any slight variation.

Berkley's 5 and 6pc Buccaneers the sections, complete with spigots, are the same length, and the three piece Parametrics, complete with spigots, sections are same length, so they knew how to make them same length if they wanted to.
