Digging through the rod closet and found another rod I don't think I ever bothered to cast before. Decided might be time to try some of these rods before trying to sell them off.(May have to keep this one)

This rod was a true surprise. It's marked Garcia 2537T Fast Taper. The rod has a staggered ferrule design and is a rocket launcher in my opinion. Put an 8wt line on this puppy and would throw the whole thing with no problem.

Have others here had much experience with the fast taper Garcia Rods? Also, does anyone know what other lengths these rods may have came in?

Casting this rod really makes me want to get back into bass fishing. I made a deal on about twent-five Fly Rod Hula Poppers last year, now if I could only find them

G&G i have a GC Bass Bug model.# digit model number.A little more modern.Blacl rod tip over 8'6 that is a big bug flinging machine.I often cast into the backing.Even with big poppers it punches em out there.I believe mine is equal lengths.Have other GC fly rods that are staggered. One has the shiny gold aluminum case.Only the one 8/9wt and the only one i have seen.

I really like the staggered ferrule Garcia Conolons. I have/had a 7'10" rod that was a gem. I can't keep the Garcia Conolon model numbers straight, so I have no idea what it was without doing some serious research.

Carl,

Do you remember if your 7'10" was a fast taper or dry fly action?

I have the exact model, a yard sale find.

Considering fishing it next time out, assume it is a 7 wt, maybe a 6wt....will get back with a report on how it casts. The tip section is longer than the butt section, but 8&1/2' which is not my preference.

I think the HCH means DT 7
The GBF means WF8
C means Level 7wt.

If I'm wrong others can correct me.

I was using a WF 8 and didn't seem to overload it at all.

My 7'10" was the Dry-Fly action which was actually pretty fast.

I have a staggered ferrule 8.5 fter, don't recall number and it's at home, it's a nice smooth cannon. Have to find it this eve.
