I got this rod from a forum member a few years ago and fished it with a SA mastery DT. Trout 3 and I know a lot of people think it’s a better rod with a 4 but I recently got a SA long belly WTF. 3 and the rod is just amazing.Have any one tried this line would like to here your opinions.......Thanks Aurelio

Aurelio, I think any rod you fish is worked by a master. The only thing I can think of that's better is your cooking. :)

Mark I am far from a good caster I remember Bill who was one of the best I ever saw and a lot of forum members that come here are much better than I.Anyway would like to here from people that own this rod and what line they use.I don’t fish this rod much cause it’s a beautiful custom Scott I got from Rodney Bo and I still have the 5pc. 7’ 4wt. Anniversary that I bought after casting yours........Aurelio

Aurelio, I remember that factory custom black F703 of Rodney's. While I have not tried the particular line you mention, I do remember liking a WF3 Rio Gold on that particular rod. I'd agree that is is maybe more of a 4wt rod, but I do tend to like a bit of a faster rod, hence splitting the difference with the Rio Gold.

Any perceived lack of casting ability if made up by amazing drift and mend capabilities. I don't know how you get those drifts from those short rods, but I've seen you do it.

A good leader and good line make all the difference. I am fond of SA lines.

Aurelio,

High praise and I appreciate it! I think Mark hit the nail on the head with your cooking and I will add incredible hospitality.

I am actually in NM right now. First time in 2 years. Perhaps I can make the drive up before I leave and come visit. How has the fishing been?

Sorry to derail the original thread....now back to that special Scott rod and the long belly lines which I bet make that rod really come alive at longer than Costilla Creek distances!

All the best to you and MJ.

Bill
