Got this rod today, I’m super excited to use it but want to make sure it’s nothing too special before i risk breaking it. It is a 7ft conolon two piece. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure its a fly/spin combo from Conolon, but I couldn't say which model exactly.

I don't think you will risk losing any value by using it.

There is also a chance that was built as a straight up spin rod but certainly no reason you cannot use it like a fly/spin. You have nothing to lose by fishing it.

Hey Vpa78124,

That's a Narmco (National Rod Company) Conolon Airflite with model number ending in "R". The fish logo and printed name are clearly Conolon. Airflite and R are fairly legible on the decal. I would guess the model number is 6303-7R, as that's a 7-footer and the numbers fit what's visible on the decal. "R" is for reinforced. This is a spinning rod for 1/8 to 3/8 oz lures. The sliding reel seat matches. I would say from 1954/55.

John
