Can't help on the Conolon - sounds like a great rod.

I intentionally left out Lami 605, because it's hens' teeth, and hands-down best 6' rod I've ever fished - this example is from Andy.

The phillipson arrived today and is a great rod. The Martin tuna can will be attached for some casting tomorrow.

Post your casting thoughts, and even some photos for us - btw, which Phillipson?
- never mind, found it MF66 - congrats

I casted it today and yes, it is a much better caster than my well loved feralite 756 (though not quite as versatile due to length).

Casting small flies put proceeded so smoothly and so easily that, at first I was shocked. For skiff fishing, small streams, and panfish its a winner.

The rod is older and in less than stellar cosmetic shape, which just adds to charm. A few weeks ago I missed a 7’ phillipson and regret that now. My only real concern is that I’m not familiar with metal ferrules and their care.

nothing to the ferrules - keep the ferrules clean - alcohol and a q-tip in the female ferrule.

I have a brown Garcia 6.5ft rod, but it is rated 6/7. Not sure I have heard of one rated 5wt. Mine is a fun fishing tool, but a tad too short for my liking.

This is a great canoe/kayak/small boat rod, it’s going to see plenty of use this summer. I’m surprised at the size of the flies it will cast, #6 or 8 woolly buggers are not a problem!
