No H.L. Leonard connection, but here is a new old stock Exxon / Graftek fly rod - 8ft 6wt 4 piece :

Reading the reviews - this rod is a dud. It started as a dud and will end a dud.
It is going to break. I shouldn't even take it fishing. Why would they make it ?

Fish pictures to follow.

I have cast the 8' 6 weight, and it is a delightful casting tool. It belongs to my friend Charlie, and I warned him if he planned to fish it, he should reinforce the female ferrule

Larry.

Your rod appears to be new, perhaps not fished?

I have a Leonard version of the rod which had seen a bit of use before a friend passed it along to me. I've been out several times with mine (as noted, probably not a good idea without reinforcing ferrules) and found it quite pleasant to cast and play fish with. But I haven't tested it on a really big fish...

Graftek's were not known for durability (their expensive bike frames were reputed to shear off at the saddle!). While the ferrule glue joint is quite questionable, the rod blank is also an impossible repair waiting to happen. Friends don't let friends take a Graftek rod salmon fishing.

I must admit, I like the way my Graftek casts. I just don't trust it...
