Hi guys. I am thinking of purchasing a Kennedy Fisher unsanded blank to have built out. All the Fisher rods I have seen (which is not a lot - no expert here on Fisher rods) had a smooth finish. Looking for any help about these blanks. Did they all come with an unsanded finish and were sanded smooth by the maker? Are the unsanded rods a different model from the smooth rods. I do not mind unsanded blanks as I already own Steffens. Thanks for your help.
Doug

Doug, you should contact Randy Johnson at retroglass rod company, who was a former blank maker in Mound House.

Thanks Ron. The blank I am thinking of would come from Randy but I have not talked to him. I'll plan to contact him shortly. BTW - I plan to mail you the reels we discussed probably later this week or next.

I recently bought from Randy and I highly recommend him. He knows his stuff and what he has is top notch. I ended up buying a few original Scott G series blanks from him in addition to the Fisher Glass blank. All are perfect!

I'll 2cnd Randy Johnson, he recently made me a 9' 2 pc. rod from a 7/8 Fisher blank with all salt water hardware. Very nice rod with great attention to detail for a very reasonable price. It is going to Belize this summer for bonefish.

So I did get the blank I wanted and am having it built out. My friend has the Fisher (unsanded bland) 8ft, 6 weight built out by Fred Paddock and loves it. THanks for your input guys.
