A few days ago in the topic "The Art of Lawn Casting" I mentioned I had been helping a friend go through his rod collection. Two days ago I tried to open a rod tube, but the zipper was stuck. I tossed it aside and forgot about until today. This time I finally broke the zipper loose and pulled out a near mint Sage SFL686. Of course we had to put on a reel with WF6 line and go outside to cast it. With 10 feet of line out the tip this rod would cast accurately and smoothly but seemed to have the power to shoot a line to the horizon. Sage really had it worked out beautifully back in those days.
My friend Charlie is trying to figure out what to do with all his rods as his health doesn't really allow him to fish much anymore. He finds it very hard to let go of any his rods, but he is wondering what the value of this might be.
