This year I have reacquainted myself with Wonderods and have fallen in love all over again. I haven't found too many Wonderods I haven't liked, but right now my 7'9" FY-A250 6wt purist probably gets the most use, and my 7' FY-920 was my grandpas and is reserved for special occasions.

Now, I'm looking for some good models in their higher weight ranges 7wt or 8wt, ideally 8' or less. Any years to look for or models?

You have a winner in that FY-A250 6 wt, it probably has a glass ferrule, if I am not mistaken. There are not a lot of Shakespeares with glass ferrules, though there are a few around.

Recommend an FY-A510, 8'6" for your 8/9 wt choice. My general rule is to stay below 8 ft for glass rods, but this rod is the exception to that rule and it is a winner. I keep it for salmon, pike, and other big dogs.

The FY-A310, 7'9" rod is a nice 7 wt in that line also.

I have two 7ā€™9ā€ rods that work good with 7-8 lines, the 1470 and the 1240. I think the 1470 is just a bit better to me in the casting as well as looks department.

Whoa those colors on both the rods and reels are amazing. I have a feeling I know what Iā€™m going to be on the lookout for over the next few months. Thanks!
