There is a fair amount of info on this site concerning these rods and I do appreciate all of it. I have learned much about them here.

I was hoping that someone could give me a fair value for one in this condition. Original bag but no tube.
Thanks brothers

I picked this rod up locally and think it is pretty cool, if you look at the reel seat closely you can see where there was a Heddon reel mounted on this rod originally. The impression is still in the cork.

That's a great rod, but the coolest thing of all is you have the original reel seat hardware.

Thanks Ron, You can certainly see its Hardy roots. This reel seat for comparison is from a Hardy CC De France rod.

The Sceptres are among the more rare of classic fiberglass rods and this particular length is more desirable, but with regard to value I've not been seeing a big market for them lately. For example, a 8'6" Constable Sceptre went for ~$100 on the auction site the other day. That could be for a bunch of reasons (length, condition...). The value is going to be whatever someone is willing to pay for it (duh!), but for this rod in this condition and without the original tube I'd say $150-200.

Nice find! That rod would have came in a brown plastic tube with an "ANGLERSAMAIL" label. ANGLER'SMAIL was/is in Cleveland, OH.
I have no knowledge of the price of that rod but that is the first picture of a
factory built 7' scepter I have seen here on the FFR.

We’re all holding on to our Sceptres. I’ll go with $100-150, although I’ve never handled the Constable versions and I’m assuming they’re much like the US versions.

The 7 footer is powerful and sensitive. Enjoy it.

Just so not to confuse future searches or rod i.d.s, let's note the spelling--easy to make a mistake on--used correctly by several owners above: Sceptre. There is a lot to discover and love about this outstanding series of blanks and the rods based on them; in the available configurations, they are competitive with any 'glass rods manufactured at any time--a benchmark in versatile, powerful progressive actions.

I agree with the rather wide price range suggested, but I wouldn't sell one at twice that price. That doesn't make their dollar value that high, just indicates their value as a fishing rod. Mdwwhw gives a great concise description above, which could pretty much apply to the whole line, which has multi lineweight capability beyond what is typical for 'glass rods.
