Yup, two ways of serving a "custom" or shop market. Just saying that Fisher offered a good way for small shops to do that, and often a shop or company-branded rod (Bauer, LL Bean) can be traced back to Fisher model.

The last big order of Fisher IM6 blanks was Hal Bacon rods - they're all blue.

" Jim's shop (post Chrysler Building) "

Seriously.., the Chrysler Building?
If I were truly a rich real estate tycoon, say, and owned/controlled huge building complexes and such, I would arrange for there to be a fly shop in the house.., even if I had to "no rent" it. And with a great pub next to it, and maybe an old fashion Barber Shop thrown into the mix. And my office would be just down the way...

OT but, fly shops in a city are great, until you want to test cast or even wiggle a rod.

The Angler's Roost on 44th Street was in a small office space on the 2nd floor and it was tiny, MAYBE 20' X 20'.

When Orvis opened their first NYC store back in the 1980's (not at the present location), the fly fishing part of the store was on the 2nd floor on a mezzanine with an 8 foot ceiling so you had be careful removing a rod from the almost horizontal rod rack. If you wanted to waggle that rod, you had to walk over to the railing, hold it out over the main floor below and wiggle it there.

I often wonder if any tip sections went flying off in the distance... ;)
