I have a complete collection of the books from the Johnsons. The "Fenwick" book is the most scarce. I paid $120.00 for mine about two years ago in mint unread condition. ( I've read it since. :)) Why $249.00 for this one? Whatever the traffic will bear. One can ask whatever they want for something. Will it sell? Who knows.

It’s a common reseller strategy with out of print books. When there is a lone seller, set a ridiculous price. If another seller arrives lower your price to best offer.

That is the nature of a collector's market. A high price is only "crazy" if someone pays it. If someone does, then the seller's price was not crazy at all.

It's a good book; a little searching might turn one up for much closer to its original retail.

That was actually in the "bargain" range. The lowest asking price was $247, and the highest over $502. Glad I'm not looking for that book.

I have watched the prices bounce around, but always over $200. If you don't need a book to hold, you can buy the electronic version for much much less

I've been searching for one for a few years now and recently purchased one for $65 in mint condition. It is autographed too.Got another one in mint condition coming but it is not autographed and paid a little more.

Some websites I've seen sell them for $190 for good condition up to $520 in mint condition.

This book is now listed over $1,500.00 on Amazon. For a used version. More than my 20 + collection of Fenwick rods cost including shipping. But I would still like to read. Does anyone know where to purchase an electronic version. Thanks.

Contact the author direct through his website, https://engineeringpathways.com/press.htm

Last I knew, there was a version available on a CD-ROM.

I did as jgestar suggested and contacted Mr. Johnson directly, I believe he now charges $25 for the CD version.

A word of caution, be sure to have plenty of time when you call, Mr. Johnson loves to talk! A very pleasant man!

Thanks guys. I found a used book store that had the CD on discount. I had a similar incident when I called an old timer still water fly fishermen legend named Denny Rickards. I asked him a few questions about his techniques and he asked me if I had a minute or so. An hour later and I was truly impressed. 80 plus years old and off the cuff, he gave me his entire seminar ( check YouTube for clips) for free. After that, I bought a bunch of flies from him. And using his methods. No indicators. Caught over 140 at my fly club this spring. Only been fly fishing since last June. And just discovered glass this spring after finding a 5 pc Voyager on the free table at the club. Everyone thought it was a spinning rod. One search on this forum and I figured out how to turn the handle around and haven’t looked back. I think I now own enough Fenwicks for every situation I expect to encounter in my lifetime.
