Did a Google search and found a mention of a Wallace baitcaster over on ifish.net. Somebody posted a query about the rod. Another member said he remembered Wallaces from the mid-70's as nice steelhead rods. He described them as similar looking to the Fenwicks of the time, medium brown in color, with off white criss cross wraps at the butt. Said he remembered them as being equal to Fenwick in quality. That's all I could find.

"Wallace" is a common, common name, and a common surname.

Sorry if I am late to the post but here is an example I have built on what I feel is a Lamiglass S Glass blank,
It looks to be wrapped almost the same way, not sure who did the work of course.

Why do you feel that Quick rod is made from a Lamiglas blank?

The ferrule and sleeve sure look like the Wallace rods.

I agree that it looks like the Wallace that's why I added it here. I always thought it was built on a Lamiglass blank but I guess I really don't know for sure about the blank. I don't have the rod anymore but it was a great caster.

I've admired pictures of that rod in the past, beautiful.

This photo has the same model tag to the left of the Lamiglas name as does the photo of the Quick right next to the fisherman.
That is why I thought this might be a Lamiglas blank.
Just a thought.

Thanks reelill for that link and photos. The wraps on that rod look like my Wallace flycaster before I rebuilt it. The reelseat, grip, winding check, appear to be the same. Blank appears to be the same too. Now who or what the heck is Wallace! My rod is an excellent caster too and extremely light weight for an 81/2'er.
