I currently own five Scott glass rods, and all of them are sweet. My favorites are probably my maroon F803/3 and black F754/3. The only glass Scotts I haven't enjoyed were the yellow F2s. I have owned three of them: the 703/3, 774/3, and 825/3 (or was it a 4-piece?). None of them were as crisp, or spoke to me as well, as my other Scotts...

Is your custom 703 from Scott's custom shop or a blank built by a builder?

At this time, a SF build F80 (8’ 4 wt) with my name in Harry Wilson’s hand is my only Scott fiberglass rod, a F81 (8’ 6 wt) SF build I sold about 10 years ago.

"...the most remarkable and the most interesting to collect?"

That rabbit hole I believe to be Scott's return to glass in 1993...Scott Fibertouch...the"F1's". I find them to be an interesting evolution of rod lengths, line weights, blank colors and configurations. As giogio stated "...do what they are supposed to do extremely well without drawing as much attention to themselves..." My favorites are the 1995 Line of the brown blanked F652 , F703, F754 and F794/4.

Since this thread was resurfaced and we’re talking about glass Scott rods I’ll chime in. I’ve owned the new F series (red-ish orange blank) in a 4wt and wasn’t impressed so I sold it quickly, the black 3wt 7ft F (which was a great 4wt as others have mentioned) and recently found the yellow F805 as a 5 piece which is very smooth and a joy to cast with an SA WF5F Trout line. Will be a nice pack rod or fun stick to hide in the carry on just in case.

Nice. An 8’ 5-piece rod fits into such a short space, and provides a length that can work in a bunch of situations. Good configuration.

Nice!
I found out that these vintage SF rods cast usually better with a line size down.
Your milage can vary
