Regal Silver 6344 ......7.5' ......6 weight ......3.5 oz. ......1981
Regal Silver 6345 ......8' .........7 weight ......3.9 oz. ......1981

I bought these rods NOS from a local store. One rod had a hang tag describing the rod's features:

• Dynaflo Guides are: smoother and bigger on the inside for less line-guide friction and longer casts. Stronger, yet so light they allow us to build rod actions not possible with ceramic guides. Lightweight double bridged frames have wide contoured feet, result: no wobble. The inner-ring won't crack, loosen or pop out. It is fused to the outer ring by a patented injection mold process.

• Invisible glass-to-glass ferrules give every 2-piece rod a 1-piece action

• A chart clearly gives its length, action, line test and lure weight

• Compare this rod for lightness, sensitivity and finish quality

• Compare the handle for comfort and quality (black foam grip)

• Now attach a matching Daiwa reel and find out what matched, balanced tackle really means

These rods do cast very smooth and are impressive for distance.

I have a Daiwa Regal Silver 6346 8WT. Nice casting rod. Found locally on one of those buy/sell apps (LetGo). I love the green blank on them!

Amongst my glass fly rod collection are two Daiwa two piece rods not listed above. Daiwa 146, black foam grip, black reel seat with gold anodised reel foot bands, light brown translucent glass, maroon bindings with white trim, "compressed" snakes, labelled Daiwa 146 2.59m 8 1/2' #7 - #8 and a Daiwa 8346B, maroon reel seat with gold/copper anodised reel foot bands, cork grip, dark brown glass, maroon bindings with white trim, "compressed" snakes, labelled Daiwa 8436B 2.55m 8 1/2' with no AFTMA rating. Both reel seats are down locking and the butt sections have the female ferrule. I can't explain that while both are labelled as 8 1/2', the 146 is 8'8" assembled and the 8346B measures the correct 8'6". Both rods are in excellent condition and are a delight to cast. I am sorry I can't post photos, it is beyond my e-capabilities, despite Bulldog's efforts of assistance a year ago. Cheers

Hi Mudfish Marquand,
I have another Daiwa fly rod that sounds like your 146 except mine’s is 147 , 9ft as far as I remember. It’s more red than brown I’d say.

The Daiwa is the 6th rod from the left.

The rod is teamed up with a Roddy (Hardy clone) and the fish is a stocked rainbow caught on the last day of the season 2019

Yes Argyll trout fisher, your Daiwa 147 looks almost identical to my 146. Many thanks for posting the pictures, much appreciated. Cheers

Stand man, slàinte agad-sa !
I am presuming that the 3045 is basically the same as the 3045 b? It’s a lovely wee rod and very light . I was thinking maybe a 6 or 7 wt, but I will start with an 8 and take it from there!
Best Regards
ATF

Magicwrench - It's a term I use to describe snake guides were the two feet are a lot closer to each other than is found on the more common snakes. I'm sure they have a correct name which is far less confusing. Cheers

Just found this nice 7'6" Daiwa fly rod. The label is partially worn. You can see it in the photos. I am guessing based in previous posts to this thread that the model is a four-digit number. I can see the first two digits are "30" followed by what looks to be a "4."

That's everything I know about it so far. If you have one or know of this rod please add to this thread. No line rating marked on the rod. Will have a chance to cast in the next couple days.

I have the Daiwa 8ft 3045B and it is a lovely rod to use. I have just bought the 8.5 ft version also, though don’t yet have it. It’s numbered 3046 B. I would guess yours is a 3044 A. The A at the end was the models with metal ferrules. The B models were glass to glass joints.

The A models are from 1969 I think and presumably the B was slightly later.
