Anyone ever see this Orvis series before? It's not Glass but Graphite. Green blank with gold hardware and cloth/pvc rod tube.

It's a new one on me and I thought I'd seen them all.

Any help is appreciated.

The name doesn't ring any bells, but they did have a line of rods with sanded blanks and translucent dark olive coating in the era when they were using those rod tubes. Perhaps they gave them another name for overseas markets?

That was my first thought. Maybe they were made for the overseas market. I got it from Bob Selb who didn't have any info on to either. It's not a sanded blank but glossy. Nice rod and in brand new condition. May have to call Orvis and see if they remember it.

Thanks for the info,

Tom

How can it be glossy and not sanded? Do you mean it still has ridges from the tape?

The Power Matrix PM10 series had green blanks with the "honorable scar"
sanded off and a gloss finish applied. Same rod tube only green cloth. Mid 1990's as I recall.

When I see sanded blank I typically think of a matte finish on the rod - sorry for the confusion. This has a smooth glossy finish.

That is correct. I bought one (8'4" #3) about 1996, and I think that was about the end of production. Very pretty rod, translucent green with gold-anodized reel seat and amboyna burl insert. Early production featured NiAg seats.

I don't remember the PM 10's in that length and line size though. I like how the "J" is a fish hook.

Neat rod Tom! I think you are correct that it was designed for the Japanese market, I have seen at least one listed there online.
