Some nice rod racks out there... here's my current closet for the most part. I have just as many non-memorable random rods, blanks, etc... floating around here... as you can see, I have an affinity for Winston stuff... as a teen in the 90s they were the rods I drooled over at the shop. The 80s/90s era was the peak as it only slid downhill from there sadly....

Glass:
Hardy JET 7'6" 5wt.
Kabuto 8' 5wt.
Barclay 7'3" 3wt.
McFarland 6'9" 3wt. by Horgren
Ijuin 7’03” 4wt (by me)
Epic 8' 4wt. (First gen 3pc. by me)
Steffen 8' 3/4 (by me)
Studio Thin Line 7'3" 3/4
Winston 6'6" 3wt. Stalker (SF/MT all cork NS hardware)
Winston 7'6" 5wt. (SF/MT all cork)
Winston 8' 4wt. Stalker (SF/MT rosewood)
Winston 8' 5wt. (SF/MT rosewood)
Winston 9' 7wt. (SF)

Graphite:
Winston 7'6" 5wt. (pre-IM6)
Winston 8' 4wt. (pre-IM6)
Winston 8'6" 5wt. (pre-IM6)
Winston 7' 3wt. (Loomis IM6)
Winston 8'9" 4wt. early LT
Scott 8'8" 4wt. G
T&T Paradigm 8'6" 4wt.
Sage LL 7'9" 2wt. (by me)

Bamboo: (this has dwindled!)
HL Jennings 7'9" 4/5
+ a few of my own from the pre-glass days...

Always looking for late SF/MT Winston trout glass and 80s-90s trout graphite, Winston accessories (bags, tubes, etc...)

Going to plunge on a nice 90s era Brackett Winston bamboo at some point. Trout sized (7-7'6" 4/5ish), cigar grip, zebra seat. Waiting for the right one when I have the funds!

Ahhhh. Got it. There’s an FF80-3 from the 1st gen of Feralites - maybe the shortest of the trout-weight 3-piece Fenwicks? - and I thought yours was maybe a 2nd generation update that I had somehow missed.

Always enjoy these updates. Rarely go into fly shops, and this is better anyhow.

Finally after some remodeling I can again get conveniently into a part of my basement where I have some outdoor gear stashed, Stuff has been moved in and out of there, to the one corner on the other side, not put back, brought upstairs, and so on. So more than usual, It is fun to run across stuff I forgot I had while looking for something I think I have. Or maybe I run across a photo of it, representing the last time I actually saw it.

That got me thinking for you well organized collectors with spreadsheets, model numbers recorded and so on. What would happen if you had, let's say, 20 minutes in a quiet, plain gray room, with nothing but a chair, a desk, a pencil, and a 8 1/2 by 14 note pad. A timer is set, and at the opening bell comes the trigger word, "fly rods" in this case, but it could just as well be "pocket knives," "fly reels," "fly lines," or "cameras" according to your most enduring collection(s.). List as close to all you have (to make it more challenging, add a where-located column) until time is up. You may not leave the gray room to peer around for stuff.

Would this put you in the pink room, or how close would you get to your actual recorded inventory? Volunteers to try it and assess the results.? Not me; I can't even find some of it.

I could do that. Actually I will right now. I'm 900 miles away from my modest collection (minus the three that traveled with me).

CGR 6'2" 2wt
Cabela's Prime 7'1" 4wt
CGR 7'6" 7/8wt
Fenwick FF837 8'3" 7wt
Wonderod FY500 Kwik Taper 7'9" 8wt
Garcia Conolon 2537B 8'6" 9/10wt
Fenwick FF112S 9'3" 10wt

I would actually like to thin this out some. There are two graphite 10wts not listed as well, an Echo and a Sage that I could live without. The Conolon is generally left at home in favor of the FF112. I would like to ditch all of those and add a Fenwick in the 7-8' range for a 5 or 6wt as well as another big Fenwick, perhaps a 858, 909, or 109.

So...while I was in Denver, I went to Cabelas to buy the CGR 7’6” 5/6 wt based on the reviews of the series from friends here. Seems like a terrific rod w/ tube for the $69 price.

I also bought an accessory.
