Update: I just threw down for an FF806 about 45 seconds after it hit eBay.
I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL.

HA! I think I know the rod you're talking about it. I saw the ad and was thinking about it--don't need it by any stretch and that long rod tube would really stick out and draw attention to the new purchase--but went back just a bit later and saw that it was gone. Glad it's going to a good home!

Yeah, smuggling it into the house is gonna be a challenge, but I didn't think of that until after it was too late.

Oh my word that is outstanding. Just a comment here the Japanese once said they never understood Americans obsession with putting away a collection , instead of putting it out for people to enjoy and admire.....Course if ya have this many rods ya'd need an auditorium to display em all. Quite impressive really and thanks for the pics.....

Built a few, sold a few, so I'm at:

Fenwick FF705
Fenwick FF807
Lamiglas SFL 96-6/7F
Lamiglas SFL 102-7/8F
Steffen 8'4/5
Steffen 8'6" 7/8
Steffen 8' 8/9
Epic 686
Epic Bandit
Epic DH11
Flywerks RetroGlass 12'7" 8wt

But it's likely to change again by the end of the summer - I've Swift loyalty points (from before the prices went up!) that would bring the Epic prices back down to a manageable point, and they're going to expire in September... seems a shame to waste them... maybe one last splurge...

Nice mix of contemporary 'glass, salvelinus, a reminder of the wide selection on the market today. Sorry, don't remember, so I'd like to ask, did you start fresh with 'glass from the selection of new models over the last decade? Must have been some fun picking and trial and error. Or did you transition from various "vintage" models acquired in their time or over time?

whrlpool, I had Fenwicks and a couple of cane rods 40 years ago, then fell for the graphite hype and sold them. My first modern glass was a Lamiglas FL843-3. As I got older glass seemed to fit my needs better so I started collecting modern glass rods, and eventually sold my carbon rods.

Mine has definitely changed a little bit over the last year or two...I don't think I've posted on this thread though, so here goes...

Echo glass Switch 11' 7wt 4pc (primary big water steelhead rod...sweet sweet casting rod that puts a smile on my face when I'm not catching anything)

Epic "El Bandito" 7'9" 10wt 3pc (primary Musky rod, jetty & super small stream steelhead rod...super fun to cast)

Steffen 8'6" 7/8wt 3pc (my primary steelhead rod for the majority of my steelhead fishing plus jetty plus surf perch plus....well, you get the idea)

Fisher 8'6" 6/7wt 2pc (kind of my backup general steelhead rod but my primary surf perch rod, also very versatile but lacking some of the backbone that the Steffen 7/8 has)

Berkley Gowdy 7'6" 6/7 2pc (the latest addition. super fun rod to fish with anything from a standard 6wt up to a 250gr Commando--I've been using a 200gr for most of my fishing...great for trout, smallies, carp, you name it. Fast becoming one of my favorites)

Steffen 8' 5/6wt 3pc (you'll have to pry this rod from my cold dead hands)

Lamiglas Honey 7'6" 4wt 2pc (great small stream do anything rod. it'll fish anything from standard 4wt up to a 175gr Commando for single-spey casting)

Currently being built: Seele 12wt Salz Pro 8'2" 12wt 2pc (I can't wait for this for tuna and as a backup--or primary--Musky rod)

I really like where I'm at right now with a wide range being covered by some super sweet casting rods...we'll see how much this'll change in the next year...ha!

Cheers

"OK" "OK" I'm a closet Fiberglass Junkie. :) I admit it. Anyway, we all collect other items besides bamboo rods and classic reels. I simply thought I would share my passion for glass rods here as well. Some of them might even fall into the "Classic" definition. Just another sickness to indulge in. The list below corresponds with the photos below, left to right. Enjoy!

Note; These rods are all completely original including bags and tubes. All have been made by the designated maker. No repairs have been made on any of these.

Impressive collections for sure! However, are you guys worried that such threads might not be good for thieves breaking into your house?

Good Lord, Hellmtflies! That collection must be something to behold, and a wonder to fish. Just great.
