From memory (not detailing the rods I've built and kept for myself) - - -

Fenwick FF70 C serial #
Fenwick FF79
Winston 7' 4/5wt Merrick era weirdo. Has a 4.5 tiptop. REALLY likes a 4wt though from what history I can gather it should be a 5wt.
Winston 9' 9wt Merrick era
SA System 6 5pc
SA System 7
SA System 8
SA System 9
SA System 10
SA System 11
Axisco Airrite 7' 3wt 6pc
Scott F60 yellow SF
Scott F65 brown SF
Scott F70/5 yellow SF; another oddball with copper colored cap/ring. Late yellow, serial number in the 2000s (probably made from remnant yellow F70 stock after brown glass rods were already in production; I'm pretty certain some of my brown SF rods have earlier serial #s than this yellow F70/5)
Scott F74 brown SF
Scott F75 yellow SF
Scott F81 yellow SF
Scott F84 yellow SF; earliest of my Scotts with serial #1139
Scott F909 brown SF
Scott F703/2 maroon Montrose
Scott F703/2 black Montrose
Scott F754/2 black Montrose
Cortland Diamondglass 7'6" 3wt 2pc black
Phillipson Master 7'6" 6wt 4pc

probably a few I'm forgetting, but those are the memorable ones.

Wow! Marty, you have an amazing Scott collection!

Hellmtflies, that little Cummings was neat but I could never grow to like the way it cast. Probably just me. (Interesting how Vince spelled "serial".)

I've owned a bunch over the years but don't collect for collecting sake mainly because "Collection" is a dirty word with my wife. So this has been more of a search or quest for the best rods that suit me. I will buy rods and then cull them so I can test out lots of rods. I do tend to fish all of my rods every year but to keep things manageable and justifiable, I try to keep only one rod in any rod length/rod weight combination so I prefer to call the following my fiberglass rod selection. :)

3-weights
Kenney..........8'1" 3wt 3pc.......Kenney Built - Latte Color
Steffen..........7'6" 2/3wt 3pc....(A gorgeous build by Matt Leiderman)

4-weights
McFarland.....8'8" 4wt 3pc.......McFarland Built with Black S-Glass
Scott..............8'0" 4wt 2pc.......Scott Built F79 (Yellow - Early San Francisco era rod)
Steffen...........7'9" 3/4wt 3pc....Steffen Built
Morgan..........7'6" 4wt 2pc.......Gerri Carlson Built (Tom Morgan's wife), with extra tip
Scott..............7'0" 4wt 3pc.......Scott Built F70-4/3 (Brown - San Francisco era rod)

5-weights
Steffen..........8'0" 4/5wt 3pc.....(A build by Mark McKellip with his really cool reel seat)(my favorite all-arounder)
Kabuto..........7'6" 4wt 3pc........Kabuto Built - Yellow (my son wants this one tagged for him in my will :) )
F. Paddock....7'0" 5wt 2pc........Paddock Built Signed Series White Blank (I'd trade for a yellow one)

6-weights
EPIC.............8'6" 6wt 3pc.......(A build by Shane Gray - Salsa color & Lemke Titanium reel seat)
Hardy JET.....8'0" 6wt 3pc.......Hardy Built (Blank by Fisher)(You sure won't see many 3pc JET's)
Sage SFL.....7'9" 6wt 3pc........Sage built (Yes, Sage built a glass rod in the beginning)
Winston........7'6" 5wt 2pc........Winston Built (San Francisco era rod) (Blank by Fisher)
Fenwick........7'0" 5wt 4pc........Fenwick Built

7-weights
Steffen..........8'3" 7/8wt 3pc.....This rod will really boom out a line

I also have a Steffen 8'0" 8/9wt 2pc blank waiting to be built. At some point, I'd like to get an EPIC Bandit.

I’m new to this game. I just started fly fishing three years ago. I’ll have to say it’s hard to say no to a new rod. This is my small list
Barclay 72-3
Barclay 75p #9 of #10
FF 85
FF 856-5
FF 858-5
System 8
Prime 5
I’m heading to the Brule for some steelhead fishing this week so I’m hoping to put a Bend in the FF 858-5 and the system 8.

Graphite:
Orvis PM-10 8'4" 2pc. 3wt.
TFO Finesse 8'9" 4pc. 5wt.
Winston Ibis 9' 4pc. 6wt.
TFO Lefty Kreh Professional 9' 4pc. 7/8wt.

Fiberglass:
Mountain Brook "Native" 6'6" 4pc. 2/3wt.
Steffen Bros. 7'3" 3pc. 2/3wt.
Blue Halo Gen II (A) 7'6" 3pc. 3wt.
Berkley Parametric "Curt Gowdy Signature" 6'3" 2pc 4wt.
Mountain Brook "Big Pine" 7'3" 2pc. 4wt.
Orvis Superfine Glass 7'6" 3pc. 4wt. (I think better with a #5).
Sunset Red 7'8" 4pc. 4wt.
Diamondback Glass (blue) 8' 3pc. 4wt.
Blue Halo Gen II (A) 8" 3pc. 5wt.
Phillipson 7' 2pc. 5/6wt (series unknown, possibly "Master"; custom built by Rick's Rods from old blank).
Mountain Brook "Pine Creek" 7'6" 3pc. 5/6wt.
Lamiglas #1802 8' 2pc. 6wt.
Cabela's CGR 7'6" 3pc. 7/8wt. (50th Anniversary series).

On the bench: Steffen Bros. 8' 3pc. 4/5wt.

Blanks in queue:
F.H. Paddock "Signature Series" 8'6" 3pc. 7wt.
Diamondback Glass (blue) 7'6" 3pc. 3wt.
Wright & McGill #1286 9' weight unknown, maybe a 7/8. I might not build this one, but cut it up for ferrules and stents. I think it's from an old W&M series that's not well-regarded.

added an IZCH 8'3" #5 parabolic to the collection recently.
holy cow - is this rod par-a-bol-ic!
more pronounced than the 8'0" #4 from this series.
a truly uniquely-actioned rod.

wondering if any modern makers dabbling in paras make a rod of this weight and length? seems like the wojos, barclays, ijuins, mcfarlands, etc are mostly shorter than 8' and mostly #4 and lighter?

makes me really want to track-down a #6 IZCH...

Is that Izch a good wet fly rod? It sounds interesting.

Didn't you just sell an Izch?

Carl,

I have really grown to appreciate a para for wet fly fishing, yes.
they are just really condusive to drawing a long line from the water, loading the rod well on the back cast, and re-directing the forward cast, with plenty of line shoot, without need for any false casting. think big loops and slow linespeed.
Slow, progressives do this also. But paras are just plain fun and interesting to figure out.

I also use a bamboo para -
Dennis Menscer 8' #5 with similar results.
the bamboo is more crisp and less "buttery" than the IZCH.

Yes I sold my 8'0" #4 IZCH because I just dont use 4-weights for swinging wets.
I was a nice rod, also. Not quite as extreme para as the #5 version, though.

The J Green 8'3" and 8'6" 4/5 semi para sound like they'd be right up your alley!!!

Hi Duff,
Interesting. For what it's worth I have three "Custom Made" glass rods from Cummings. Two are mint. None of mine have "serial" numbers at all.

Fullflex, how did you remember all that and how did you type all that without
your butt falling asleep? Incredible list. I don't want to think what my "had" list would look like and I don't want to think of all the graphite I sold. There was a guy who was active on the board 10 years or so ago who had a single wide trailer full of flyrods. He and his wife spent a day counting half of the trailer. Half was 2,500. They figured a day was enough and figured he had about 5,000 rods.
If I recall correctly, Tom and Cameron took part in that Sunday chat session. Was it 3,000/6,000 or was it "only" 1,500/3,000?

Hi all,

Have to admit, there’s been too many rods but it has also been one great journey that has last over 30 years now and the journey continues… never thought I would collect anything, it was just finding that ”perfect rod". Still searching… just not that hard anymore :)

Those rods on the list are the ones I can remember, most of them really good rods and I even fished most of them. ;) Also have old rodlists to help to remember… For number of reasons most of the rods were sold, traded or gifted to other fishermen who now fish and enjoy them. A bit like catch and release, a trout is too valuable to catch only once; same goes to rods too… :)

Great top10 list Grouse! Seems to me that you have had quite a rod-journey too… :)

Great collections here everyone!

Pictured here is my Mother-in-law's old (and slightly tuned) coffee table. Accompanied with few rods... :P
