The FF756 (7 1/2 ft for 6 wt) is probably one of the most popular fly rods of the 70s. It is a bit faster than most rods of the era but it is a great all-round fly rod. I am a primary advocate of the FF79 (8 ft 6 wt) for dries and an FF806 (8 ft 6 wt) for all-round use including heavier flies and wets, primarily because they give you an extra 6 inches of reach without a "too long and wobbly penalty". The FF756 has no such tendency and it is a great rod of the day but don't be tempted to underline it with a 5 wt--it needs a 6 wt to load it right. It is not heavy and the length and weight are well matched.
I do think you'll find the FF70 (7 ft for 5 wt) is sweeter ... that is why they are more expensive on the secondary market. The FF70 is very nice bluegill or light trout rods. They are not as widely capable as the FF756. The FF756 is one those "If I could only have one rod ... " kind of rods. You could use it for anything from bluegill to salmon.
Take care.
