I'm glad I got mine. I have the 5'3", the 6', and 7 1/2'. I think the 6 ft is the most fun. Sweet, strong, but short, I use mine in my kayak and I can reach the tip top without dipping my reel in the river.
Due to the uplocking reel seats, I anticipate these will become the most sought after Fenwicks over time.
There are some vintage Fenwicks that have uplocking reel seats, but I have not seen that many. I have a 705 and an 805 that have a cork reel seat with an uplocking connection. I saw one other and I think it was an 806 on ebay, but I didn't bid it because my 805 is really a 6 wt. I am not sure what year they were made but the oldest manufacturing code I have with one of these is 1973, about when Fenwick was moving heavily into the HMG.
I just looked and here is what one of them looks like:
cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI ... %3AIT&rd=1I have cast the Fenglass 866 and its a loser, and I have not heard that the 4 pc Fenglass 766 is a nicer rod than the older FF 756 which is also a 4 pc 7 1/2 ft 6 wt. Anybody know?
