Is anyone familiar with this rod ... ? After casting one yesterday with a DT5, I had to have it.
Some research shows the guy had the rods custom built for him by Heddon in the late 50's to early 60's.
This one is an 8ft 5-6wt with a red reel seat. 2 piece.
I'll post some pics up when I get time.
Brian

I have had a couple of Hack Miller rods. One built by either Sewell and Dunton or Montague made out of Bamboo and in a 8' 2/1 Configuration for 5 wt. nice rod.
I have also had a Hack Miller Fiberglass rod but I don't have any photos of that rod although I know it wasn't Heddon built, I would love to see the Heddon.
Hack Miller was a sports writer her in the Salt Lake City area and liked to fish the Strawberry river. Most that information is available in a simple internet search, I don't remember much more about him.
Hope this helps a little.
Richard

I think Zink's (a sporting goods chain in Salt Lake City) sold a Hack Miller line of trade rods ...

Ziniks, I remember those days. that makes sense. I am not sure if they carried these rods but my thought is that they probably did.

10 years later.. the rod is still kind of a front heavy dud - but its a good 8ft 6/7wt whenever I need it.
