Here's a Fenwick from the Fenwick custom shop. FF77-7! 7'10"-5wt-7pc. that weighs 3-1/2oz. This is the only one that I have ever seen. Thank you James Green (tcpits)!

Doug - The rod was intended to be fished, and it will be ... going to take it on a casting seesion this afternoon. It has passed the wiggle test, no 'flat spots' or hinging as a 7pc.

I agree ... I'd fish it too!

Doug - It's a fine casting rod, just what you would expect from a Fenwick ... you wouldn't know it was a 7pc. rod.

With a fine tip (4.5 tip top) and tip over butt ferrules, it's a gem! Nice to see the work Jimmy Green of Fenwick put into rods like this, each 15" section works together in harmony ... The rod handles a DT5 line comfortably from 10' to 60'

Very, very nice - interesting to see the custom rods that Fenwick produced - a backpackers dream ...

Fred,
With the 4.5 tip, it sounds like it would be a 5 as marked? In the multi-piece configuration, is it slower like the FF75-4 compared to the FF75-2?

Doug - The upper half has the same feel of the FF75 while casting in close. Once some more line is out the butt starts to work, similar to the FF75-4. I still can't get over how well it casts as a 7pc.

Wow, I continue to be amazed at the custom configurations that Fenwick was willing to take on which still lived up to their standards as quality fishing tools. Nice find Fred!

In a word -- WOW, sweet! (Okay two words.) Image I want one.

What a perfect rod to stuff in your luggage when on a business trip -- just in case you get a chance to flick a fly. (That's what I do, coupled with reel with a SA Quad tip line and a box or two of flies.)

Good luck on finding one ... I have never seen another. I have seen many more FF83's than the FF77-7! Does anyone else have one? I have never seen another!

I think I've seen one on eBay over the years. It didn't sell cheap. That was before there was any information at all posted online. As the quantity of reliable information on a rod builds up online, the prices build up too.

thanks for sharing that fred. sadly, due to its rarity, the closest i'll come to that neat pack rod of yours is my own (new yellow) ff79.5. i'm glad to hear that it casts as well as it looks and that you'll be fishing it. very nice.

Tom - The one you seen on eBay a while bac is the same rod ... it went for good money and then was sold again about a year ago ... I know the person who bought it and he wanted it ... I told him if he was to resell it, to talk to me. It's the only FF77-7 that I have seen.

It's safe from reselling now, it's one of very few production rods that I have kept for my collection.

Awesome find. I have seen a lot of Fenwicks but never one of those. Glad it has found a good home!
