Nice MALE Rod. Those big ones used to be quite common on a few lakes.I have caught some very nice ones ithis spring as well from highly pressured water. The size has tripled in a few short years.Maybe the lack of safe ice contributed some as my friends really catch a lot of big gills thru the ice.

I can only dream of gills like that.

At first glance I thought your legs were your fingers and this was some 4" gill!

Thank you so much for all the positive responses! I’ve not posted here for some time now. As most who know me, I’ve a passion for the bluegills and glass rods. I went to a new yo me lake yesterday in Omaha and did quite well fishing top water with my Studio Thin Line!
Here’s a few pics of some of the gills..

Nice going Rodney.I only fish the spawn to see which BOWs hold decent fish. Then as summer progresses I know where to popper fish in the evenings.Big gills usually means there are big bass and other predators. To me fly-fishing success comes down to the food chain..
