Every year, my season starts here, at Gradac river. It's the closest water to my hometown where I can find trout, and truly a lovely one. Wild brownies mostly, with some chub and grayling also.

Lost a pretty big fish for this river today, an around 20'' brown. Bad luck, I just hate loosing the first nice fish of the year but it's all in the game.

At least, it was a first good dry fly day of the season, dry pheasant tail and Hawthorn Fly seemed to work best.

Can't speak as to the rod, but that reel is an Ari T. Hart.

Thanks a lot guys, I'm glad you like it.

The water temperature is still well below optimal since the spring is running a bit late this year.

Cyguy, the rod is CTS Quartz 376-3, which I've built this winter and the reel is Marryat Baby.

majicwranch, sorry, I probably made a typo, it's Hawthorn Fly (Bibio Marci), black terrestrial insect that's widespread throughout Europe and UK, I don't really know about other continents.

It can be seen through the end of April and May, and on a sunny and windy days a lot of adults might end up in the water.

Most fly patterns that imitate the adult are fairly easy to ty.

Stunning water and landscape.. If I could only fish one river for the rest of my life it would look something like this.

I don't know of a great Serbian adjective to use for such beauty, but whatever it is, it is exemplified in your photographs.
