I will also put in a third for the Barclay 70p, but they are hard to come by. No one wants to sell them. Mine got some action today.

I really like the Fenwick ff70-4 too. It stayed in the tube today.

The ff70 and phillipson scotchply rods are good in the 6wt range.

Oh, the Scott f703/3. If you want a 3wt.

I have a McFarland 7'2" that is great, so I presume the 7' is great too.

Fenwick FF705 and FF706-4, and Barclay 70p for me. Depends on how and where and what I'm fishing for.

Would love to try out a sleeve or spigot ferruled 7' Phillipson, though.

FF70 gets the most use. If I want to go lighter, a Lami 3wt or a Barclay 704, and a FF70-4 if I want a 6.

In 4wt the Scott 704/5 20th Anniversary.

In 5wt the Paddock signature 705/2.

I have 3 that I use depending on my mood, a Heddon Golden Mark 50, Pro Weight (7'-0" - 5 weight) that I fish with an old Cortland 333 double taper. Very sweet and very light in hand rod. Then there is the Fenwick FF 70 that I use with a SA Frequency Boost 5 weight (5-1/2 weight) and last, but not least the Fenglass 704-3. I have a true to weight #4 for this rod but will look into getting a Frequency Boost 4 as I think it will be better. Now if spring will just get here for good. And the rain lets up. And my shoulder gets better from surgery in December.

Oh, not glass, but I picked up a pair of Cortland GRF 7'-0", 3/4 weights, one 2 piece and one 4 piece. From lawn casting these rods look to be a hoot for sunfish and bluegill.

Vintage choice Phillipson Royal 7' for 6 with new guides by Glassmaster shown above.

Modern choice Paddock Signature 705 custom by McKellip Brothers.

Both very capable rods. Phillipson is a family rod so has more memories but Paddocks taper is special.

Another vote for the FF70-4 which I generally fish as a six wt.

It is interesting to me that so many of these responses are for various vintage 7' 6 wt rods. In a world with so many newer options for lighter line weights and lighter rods, these 50+ year old small stream work horses are still going strong and seem to be the tool of choice for many of us.

It puzzles me that a limber 5-6 wt rod in a 7' length is a fairly unusual configuration for new rods these days. There are several out there but probably only one for each 20 offerings of a 7' 3wt.

Another vote for the 7’ 3wt Yomogi. Another candidate would be Bens S-Glass 7’ 3wt 5 piece.

The Yomogi 7’ 3wt is a favourite of mine for sheer fun of casting,

but I have to confess for fishing that size I actually use a Sakura (it’s a little stronger in action which is handier in a Scottish breeze)

Are you telling me - they make 7 foot rods ?
This whole time I've been after 8 footers.

It's an east coast thing. For those tiny little brook trout in their tiny little streams.

This one is my favorite. A & F, 7', 2 3/4 oz, #5. Phillipson blank. Deep flexing and probably the smoothest casting rod I own, yet plenty of backbone and control. Don't notice any diminished response from the metal ferrule. With a 406 DT5 its all I need out of a 7 footer.

I'll echo El Duderino - a Lami 7' 3wt. So much fun!

Haha, maybe 3wts mine are 5 and 6wts.I have 3 6.5 foot 5wts,2 heddons and a Wonderod. My 3wts are 6'.I do have the Fly Atom 4 foot something and it is 6wt and is my go to rod for casting inside my house. The cats like mouse patterns a lot.I rarely fish for trout as all we have are spring/fall stockers. And Lake Michigan but hard to fish a fly in 80 feet of water but i am sure someone will figure out how to do it.

I'm with Duderino , Lamiglas 7 ft, 3 wt (which I fish with a 4 wt line).
Next choice is Fenwick FF-70-4, 5/6 wt.
