I had the pleasure of meeting two young men on a trout stream in Missouri. One of them was fishing a Berkely Cherrywood Rod and the other an old Fenglass. They asked me I know anything about them as they were from one of the guys grandfather. I was happy to share some of the past history of fiberglass rods and told them about the finest Berkeley fly rod the Para Metric. In my checked past I had own one of each of them. I was not fishing glass.

I agree-great that you took the time to share some wisdom with younger folks. I was fishing RMNP over the summer & passed three young anglers on the trail that were headed the opposite direction. I was pretty sure one of them was carrying a glass rod. I wanted to ask about it, but they were in a hurry to wet a line—I understood that!

I also shared flies and watched them hook a couple of fish on my flies and their rods.
We have to pass the knowledge on as the next generation does not have the same drives and desires we have. Or the mentors.
