Fished a new Echo Riverglass 8 ft 4 wt rod in a remote area of Idaho in the Bitterroot mountains chasing cutthroat trout with dry flies. This was in an area where the waters were larger streams and smaller freestone rivers. I paired the rod with a Cortland 444 peach line on an old style Ross Cimarron reel. The setup worked great and it’s a 4 piece rod so it’s convenient for hiking in to more remote areas. I could cast out to 50 feet with fairly good accuracy and roll casting was easy as well. I could feel the rod load well and when I had a fish on it was a lot of fun. The fishing was great (best dry fly fishing ever). Looking forward to getting out with that rod again.

Sounds fun. How did the echo River glass handle? Those seem like decent sized fish.

Boy i miss fishing most of those "Bitterroot mtn" creeks/rivers. Fished them all back in the mid 80s when they were less "busy". Miss fishing the "creek". Miss having deer almost step on me at night while trying to sleep at the trail heads with no one else there under the incredible starlight. Miss those dew wet predawn power hikes upstream to tributaries of the main streams and fishing miles back to my vw bug.
