Donny,

Thank You very much for the Train Story. That is GOOD NEWS :) Now if only the Cumbres-Toltec RR in NM could follow suit.

When i was kid growing up in Chicago we took the bus fishing and sometimes the L train. With our poles and buckets either to Lake Michigan or the edges of the city to fish public ponds or sometimes golf course and cemetery ponds.Could not imagine letting my 10yo grandson take the bus with just some other kids like we did.

From your video, I realized that traveling to the fishing spot is one of the pleasures of fishing. My fishing trips are always in a hurry and I don't have time.

I am going back on the train for an overnight trip with my wife tomorrow. We are going to stop at another another stream a bit farther on. Will post a report from there when we get back. This costs about the same as a rod fee on private water and the overnight should make it pretty special.

Will be happy to share the details of how to do this if you and your gang get over this way. Pretty easy.

I enjoyed the video and the scenery. What a cool experience and area to fish.

Iconic Durango day Donny, thanks for sharing with video and this post! My folks used to have a condo in Rockwood; the train would stop at the old one room school / post office there. My dad and I used to hike down to the river and fish up there. Steep hike, usually small or no fish, but always fun. I hope we can connect in Durango to fish some time, maybe when I’m back this fall.
