Had a 3-day family reunion trip back to SW PA where I grew up. We had a AirBnB in Confluence, PA, named as such because that's where the Casselman River flows into the Yougiougheny. Laurel Hill Creek also merges with the Casselman about 300 yards up from the confluence of the Casselman and the Yough (prononced "yok" by the locals).

The warm water of the Casselman merged with the cook water from the Yough, and made a nice mist in the mornigns and evenings. Did several morning and evening sessions fishing my 8' 3/4 wt Steffens that I build from a blank from Graywolf. Caught swining a partridge and orange, and also using dry droppers. Though fish were rising, I mostly got them on nymphs. Couldin't figure out exactly what they were rising to, but I got a few surface eats on general attractor flies. Nothing consistent though.

Anyway... it wasn't the most romantic location and it was completely well known with other anglers on the water. But it is my home waters, the SW PA summer evenings were wonderful, and I had a blast catching foot-long rainbows (most likely all stocked).

Here are some pics.

Nice to get back to waters you’ve enjoyed in the past. Glad it was a good trip.

Looks like a fun trip for sure. Glad you had a chance to get back. I never get tired of the waters I grew up fishing.

Great pics of the confluence of the Yock and Casselman .
The Casselman is a delayed harvest stream that gets multiple stockings throughout the year . Glad you were able to get on some Bows.
Don’t forget about the LiL Yock!! :lol

The lil Yock feeds The Lake which gets Yellow Perch and Bronzeback to come way up to Oakland . Lil Yock is stocked with Rainbows just like the Big Yock and Casselman .

Ive got a place over about 30 miles away from confluence in the Savage River watershed.
The Savage has been fishing great all summer

Cool Maryland fact that the Yock drains to the Ohio valley then on to the Mighty Mississippi.
While all rivers on other side of the mountain flow to the Potomac
Cool geography in that whole area great history as well.

Cool stuff. I went to college in The 'Burgh and spent about five more years in the area before moving away on my transcontinental migration for various other jobs. I sometimes wonder what the fishing is like (I was focused on other things at the time).
