My brother and I got out for a quick day trip to one of our spots on the west slope. The weather was hot and the wind was pretty unrelenting, but we managed to get into some fish. 5wt setups and a big dry/small dropper seemed to do the trick. Flows ramped up from 300cfs to 900 from 6-6:30pm, so our day was cut short. Looking forward to next time!

(Would anyone want to weigh in on if this is a stocker or not? This area is not stocked, and the ragged tail/pelvic fin made us scratch our heads)

Looks like fun to me!

If river not stocked, you answered your question. Not unusual to see fish with torn fins, and especially after spawning.

Nice to see the water level and flows are decent despite the drought. Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing.

The pelvic fin may be ragged, but it's also transparent, which is more common in wild fish.

Very nice! something about the coloring makes me think "wild", but I don't know really - I'm not sure I've caught a put-to-take stocker in a long time. Wild rainbows definitely show a wide color range that matches the geology of the streams that they inhabit.

Good you got out with your brother, and got some fun in before the conditions changed. And I’m in the “wild” camp.
