I am looking for Gogi

Hi guys,

Recently, when I was looking for a stream where Gogi live, I found a beautiful stream in Shimane prefecture, so I would like to report it.

This stream is relatively low-gradient and has no cliffs that are dangerous to climb. Therefore, it is familiar to me, who basically enjoys fishing alone.

On the other hand, white-chested bears (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_black_bear) are thought to be increasing in number in this area in recent years, and the risk of encountering them is not low. The most dangerous thing is that bears and we suddenly encounter each other without being aware of each other's existence. If that happens, the bear will consider us a threat and launch an attack. It is required not only to ring bear bell regularly and but also to keep an eye on the presence of the bear.

Although there is a forest road beside this stream, it is far from the human-living area.

In the areas I have tried so far, I have only caught Amago or Yamame.
My Scott powr-ply 5' 8" #3 was just right for the stream because it was partly bushier than I expected.

Next time, I will look for Gogi further upstream.

Thank you for looking.

That looks absolutely magical! The “far from human living area” is especially appealing: )

Your CFO looks as nice as the fish... and those photos are breathtaking!
Thanks for sharing that with us all.

Stunning trout pictures too. Those Amago & Yamame are lovely - I will go back to staring at them.

Wonderful photographs takeru! Hoping you could show a photograph of the face of the wall (you are standing above) as it looks beautifully constructed.
Regards,
John

The respect that you have for this area is obvious from your many gorgeous pictures ... truly beautiful..
Yes, some of my favorite online videos are masterfully filmed in Japan's mountains. And those bear bells are always tinkling...
And, that looks like an original Scott brown glass - so well done...

A day on a stream like this is a blessing with or without catching fish. Your photos, as before, are a real treat for all of us. Thank you for sharing.

You have some very interesting looking trout where you fish and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. Good luck finding the Gogi.

John,
I visited the stream again and took pictures. I think this is the wall you mentioned. This is probably the most common construction method for bank protection in Japan.

Seems like a very soul re-energizing stream. The kind of place were a few deep breaths fill your lungs with vitality and excitement right before you start to wet your line.

Wonderful report! This stream looks like the kind of water that I enjoy fishing. As the owners of a Scott fiberglass rod paired with a CFO III reel, I appreciate your choice of equipment, too. Thanks again for sharing…

It is wonderfully constructed, especially when compared to man made streamside structures here in the US. Thanks for posting the photo takeru !
