My choice varies based on the size of the river system I am fishing. On bigger rivers my preference is an 8'-0" 4 weight. On smaller streams a 6'-6" 3 weight is my preference.

GRASSNGLASS.

I have a Fenwick Fenglass 7'9" 6 wt that I bought a few years ago for a trip out West.

I just pulled it out tonight. I'm gonna take it on a trip to North Carolina this coming week.

Del Gue,

I had a Fenglass 7'9", 6wt rod until yesterday. It's in the mail right now heading to another member.

Wonderful casting rod in my opinion.

Tight Lines in N.C.

8’ 5 weight and 6’6” 3 weight get the most use for me.

In fresh, my favorite is 8' 7 weight, because that means it's November and I'm throwing streamers for landlock salmon and the rainbows, browns and lakers that follow them upstream ....

For salt (bays and inshore), it’s been 8’6” 7wt. For fresh, too many good combinations, but if forced to choose, it would be 8’ 6wt.

7'-9" 6 weight. It's my daily driver that lives in the truck toolbox or in the Subaru. For me, it's a good versatile tool. Plus, I smile a lot when I'm using it.
