Finally had a chance to put my first fiberglass build to the real test. I spend a couple of days at Ribnik river.

Although the river is only 3 miles long, this beautiful and gin clear tributary of the mighty Sana river is one of Europe's finest spring creeks. People from former Yugoslavia, France, Germany, Scandinavia etc. are coming here for years now.

It's great, real international fly fishing company, friendly and positive people all over the place and hearing swearing in about ten different languages when the big fish get away is really fun too. :D

Only fly fishing is allowed, Catch and Release is mandatory. Barbless hooks and landing nets also.

The Ribnik river...

Browns caught on dry fly, spent mayfly hook size 10...

And graylings, caught on nymphs (caddis pupa and small freshwater shrimps)...

In conclusion, it's seems to me that I'm done with graphite. :) Just can't understand why I didn't give glass a chance years ago.

Glad to see your pictures as they dredge up fond memories from forty years ago. Nice to know that the river is being well looked after and appreciated as there is pressure to build hydro damns all over the region.

Great looking scenery, fish, and rod. Thanks for sharing your local water with us. I’d like to fish there and add some swear words in American English to the chorus.

Thank you all for watching and for the comments.

These are the flies that worked for me, spent dry fly for trout, caddis pupa and small shrimps for grayling.
The shrimps were not tied by myself, a nice gift from a fellow fly fisherman from Slovenia.

I sure hope that I would manage to visit Ribnik one more time this year. Until then, I'll just keep dreaming about it and setting the hook while asleep. :)

Absolutely stunning! I'm sure the pictures don't do that water justice. And those are some mighty browns!

Thanks guys.

The Bosnia, and particularly this part of that beautiful country, is often being called Europe's Montana.
In the area of just around 10 miles, there's some extraordinary rivers (Ribnik, Pliva, Sana, Sanica, Janj).

Since Bosnian rivers grow in popularity among fly fishermen, there's quite a few nice movies on youtube.

I really like this one, filmed at Ribnik and Pliva rivers. Short but effective, makes you wanna pack your bags instantly. :)

Beautiful place to fish! Looks like a great place to not only fish, but to sit on the bank and relax.

I've spent last few days at Ribnik, fishing and testing my second ever build, CTS Quarts 376. Very high water level for this time of the year and the worst kind of weather one can get - constant changes of heat, strong wind, thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Graylings were inactive so I've decided to fish for browns only, mostly with dry flies, since there was massive hatching of Ecdyonurus sp.mayflies.
In between rain showers, there were some trout rising.

CTS 376 turned to be lovely little rod, fun to fish, able to cast any size of dry fly from short to medium distances and with surprising amount of strength when playing fish.
