At the end of outside bend that almost never fails me and thankfully after a slow start it held true again today.

Broke the ice on a new to me, Browning Silaflex 322975 on a nearby suburban river. It’s one of those close to home places that I love. If you aren’t getting O’Hare or Midway air traffic you might not know you are in the middle of a creeping chronic concrete state of suburban malaise.

Long sections of intimate water that are hard to access unless you are wading or in a kayak.

Enjoying the rod (reminds me of a FF756 but softer and easier going), strung it up with S/A Frequency 6 wt intermediate and ~ 3 feet of 12 lb. tippet. Landed around a dozen fish, including some broad shouldered 14–15-inch smallmouth that were red eyed balls of violent delight.

Saw dozens and dozens of vacated beds that makes me optimistic that this section of river will stay strong in the future.

Man, thats just my type of good time. Trout are fun, but sometimes you really want to bend a 6 weight rod to the cork.

Great pictures, write-up and that is a very nice looking rod. The bend in that rod is what we are all looking to emulate

Nice! I’ve flown through O’Haire about a thousand times in my life and if I knew there was beautiful smallmouth water nearby, I would have arranged an extended layover.
