So there is a subdivision pond about 15 minutes away that the kids and I call 'the magic pond'. It's a rare day in the summer when you don't have a good fishing experience and I have a lot of fond memories of taking them there and essentially being a 'guide' for them. Regulars at the pond tell me it's exceptionally deep and that helps the fish survive the harsh winters and grow big.
The long grey spring has subsided and I've gotten out a couple times and had a blast with some classic 1970's glass. No monsters yet, but a 3 species hat trick and my first top water of '22.
