So there is a subdivision pond about 15 minutes away that the kids and I call 'the magic pond'. It's a rare day in the summer when you don't have a good fishing experience and I have a lot of fond memories of taking them there and essentially being a 'guide' for them. Regulars at the pond tell me it's exceptionally deep and that helps the fish survive the harsh winters and grow big.

The long grey spring has subsided and I've gotten out a couple times and had a blast with some classic 1970's glass. No monsters yet, but a 3 species hat trick and my first top water of '22.

'so put on your rose fur coat like it's 1973'

Phillipson RWF70C & Fenwick FF755 and a couple of Heddon 310s

That Phillipson and reel combo look sweet. Nice outing and nice to get some topwater action!

Nice Russ. That is most of my fishing anymore. That is why I call all my 7 foot or less pond rods.Easy to maneuver and stay under the wind.I am recovering from some pretty serious stuff and am on a short leash .I did well at a pond I have driven by for years.Got some 8 inch and bigger gills and some nice bass are on their beds.I use the spawn to see what potential a pond will have later in the year.I rarely bed fish. The fish are super pressured as it is.After the spawn the 8wts and bass bugs come out.
