I see that Diamondback has rebranded its name and image. They have moved the company back to Vermont and are in the process of developing new series of rods. They still have some Meeker glass left in a 6’6” 2 wt. 8’ 4 and 5 wts. and 8’6” 6 wt. these rods are going for $126.00. That’s a great deal on some pretty nice E Glass rods

Thanks for the heads-up. Just bought the 8 ft 5 wt. This will be my first modern glass rod. Curious to see how it fishes.

Yo LKG - thanks for the great tip. I ordered both 8 footers, in the 4 and 5wts. I've already broken them in and they are great sticks. Yesterday I followed up on the 4wt with the old black Diamondglass 8'4wt I got a long time ago, and there is indeed a difference, the old "S" glass being even lighter and maybe speedier. Love them all, and the trouts don't mind.

I received my 8ft 5 wt rod today. Very nice for $125. Well appointed, beautiful finish, excellent cork, and a nice sock and tube. Can't go wrong.

I compared it to several of my vintage rods and found that it is very close to my Fenwick FF-805. A bit firmer but the flex pattern is about the same. The Diamondback rod does recover faster and it is a bit harder to get it to throw a tailing loop (one of my exceptional skills).

Glad I got it and I look forward to fishing it once run-off is over. Recommended.
