Yup, what a mess of trout I caught today. Once spring has sprung its game on! Got out early to have the river to myself. As it turned out I saw no one for the rest of the day. Well, a couple of Kayakers cruised by at one point just in time to watch me put the steel to a fat rainbow of about 14"s. Anyway, the stream conditions ruled, low & clear at 38 degrees climbing to 43 degrees after noon. As that temperature was reached the midges started to hatch in waves. Though I had landed a couple prior to the hatch the trout began to really start stuffing themselves. To prove this below is a photo of one so stuffed it looked to have a golf ball in its belly.
See the photo below. Anyway, 21 trout later and having missed another half dozen the switch was turned off and the trout shut down right at 4pm. Just in time to get home and watch the Masters Tournament.
Check'em out!
