From a few weeks ago that I just never got around to posting. Used the little Proof Olive I built a while back (2nd version with TOB ferrules). I like a 4wt Triangle Taper on it for close-in. Does a little bit of everything in a tight creek, where there's panfish plus chance of large bass, and fairly large carp. But just panfish this day. Pretty much all fish came on a brown foam ant. Sometimes hard to tell but I believe they're a redbreast, maybe bluegill/redbreast hybrid?, and a longear.

I catch the same here in Illinois - love the variations you can get here in basically the same fish.
Great photo post !

I think you nailed it. Definitely redbreast and longear, and bluegill will pretty much hybridize with any other sunfish, so bluegill/redbreast seems right.

I’m always blown away at how beautiful Texas is. It seems like kinda flies under the radar but I’ve seen some beautiful pictures and videos. I’ll make it out there someday. What region was this in?

Very cool. Hard fish to beat for fun on a light rod.

Thanks. It's central, on the edge of what's called the hill country

Great looking fish! Pan fish are a lot of fun on the fly. Looks like a fun and productive trip

the undercut rock ledge reminds me of a spot I know in North west Ga, probably cold enough for trout, but its inhabited by redeye bass and chubs. Thanks!
