I am very thankful that my friend Kiwiscanfly has offered to assist me by putting my words and photos in front of you. I am a dunce with e-technology so my apologies for not putting this through under my name.

The pictures are taken in New Zealand's Tauranga Harbour at Plummers Point. Some of us have been targeting our silver trevally on #3 outfits. This is a hard fighting species, like most of the trevally/jack family and they push ultra light fly gear to the extreme.

My gear consists of "Little Olive," my Epic 370, Sage 2230, Rio CamoLux WF3I, and Maxima Ultragreen leader between 3 pound and 6 pound and one of my patterns I call a tungsten bead orange fuzz ball krill fly which is a #8.

I just fly fish for fun, so I fight the fish hard so that they get to be released without being burnt out by lactic acid.

I met up with a couple of mates today at Plummers Point and we fished the last three hours of the outgoing. I was using Little Olive, my Epic 370 and the same gear already described in the first post. We picked up four trevally and each fish tested the gear to the extreme. The little Epic accounted for two of these. Hopefully, you will get to see some photos of them.

Hi bassackwards, the recipe is as follows: The hook is a Black Magic BMSWF08E. This is a hard hook to find but there are other options. The bead is a Hanak 3.5mm which has a slotted hole. The hook barb needs to be crushed so the bead will slide on. I prefer the fluoro pink and orange color beads. The tail is dyed barred rabbit fur, I tie three different colors, white, orange or pink. I like to tie in for or five strands of krystal flash, and I have found that this best tied over the rabbit fur. The eyes can be either stainless steel ball chain or preferably black plastic bead chain. The orange chenille has very long fibres to give the fly a "leggy" appearance. This is hard to find from suppliers in New Zealand, so a friend imports it for me from China. I build the fly with fluoro pink or orange thread and secure the head tie with Loons UV Thick & Clear.

The fly works well on a variety of New Zealand's saltwater species. Yesterday, I landed two small yellowtail kingfish on this fly after exciting fights on my Epic 370 and 4.0 pound leader.

I am sure this fly will work well for you, especially in areas where you need to get down deep.
