That's marketing speak for an accurately weighted fly line.

What rod(s) are you buying the line for? What lines have you used with it so far?

Tom

okay, that makes sense.

I was hoping to find a supple, slick 5wt DT that would work well on my 8' 5wt Iconoglass and my 8' Sage SFL580.

Another fan of 406 lines, they’re fantastic. I also recently picked up a spool of Rio Lightline. Only cast it in the yard so far but I’m liking it on both my 3wt rods, one glass one carbon. I found it on clearance at a great price, definitely worth looking into.

Another fan of the 406 flylines. I have the DT5 and heartily recommend it. I also have a few Scientific Anglers XPS DT lines that I really like. I don't think they're called XPS any longer. Not sure what they call them now, SA changes the names of their lines too often for me to keep up.

Have used 444 peach, cortland sylk, sci angler, supra. Lately 406 in DT is my go to line.

My preferred line for a long time has been the S.A. Air Cel Supreme. I still have a bunch of them, would hunt for one on eBay if needed a replacement.

The Sci Anglers XPS was my favorite line, however it was discontinued quite a few years ago. I now like the 406 as it seems to be very much like the old XPS.

Thanks everyone!

For the Rio Lightlight DT, it's advertised for "slow" glass rods. How would the line be for faster glass rods?

I’ll agree that this is mostly marketing jargon for “a true-to-weight” line. I’ve got this line on an Orvis superfine glass 3wt, which has been called fast for glass, and they’re pretty fine dance partners. I’ve also used this line on a Scott GS 773, which is definitely faster than your average glass rod, and they get along just fine. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

406, but my ancient Peach lines are still awesome.

I like a long taper on my lines so I am using 406, Cortland 444 Peach, and another to look at is the Rio Technical Trout. I haven't used the Technical Trout in a DT yet, but I have a WF4F that I am using on my fastest rod and it presents nicely.
